Humans have been snacking for thousands of years. Early humans foraged throughout the day, eating berries, nuts, and whatever they could find. Structured meals came much later.

In the 20th century, snacking evolved rapidly as processed foods became widely available. Suddenly, snacks were everywhere—on shelves, in bags, in cars, at work. They became part of culture, convenience... and often, comfort.
